SHOP THE COMPETITION

January 6th, 2011

There are several infrared heaters on the market today.  How do you know which one is the best?  Do your homework! That’s right, shop around. Compare. It’s so easy now to hop on the Internet and go to each website, Google infrared heaters, compare price, efficiency, safety, etc. Why would we encourage you to shop the competition?  Because we know the Solar Comfort heater is going to be your final choice.

To help you out, here is a list of our major competitors:

Edenpure http://www.edenpure.com/heater/

ComfortZone http://www.comfortzoneheaters.org/category/comfortzoneinfraredheater

SunHeat http://www.sunheat.com/sunheat.com/SUNHEAT.php

SunTwin http://suntwinheater.com

Of course, we know not everyone revels in the joys of research and comparison shopping, so if you’re more of a “cut to the chase” type, we’ve summed it up in a nutshell for you. The Solar Comfort uses infrared heat as do the others, but instead of quartz technology, we use four 375 watt infrared heat lamps.  They have two main advantages over quartz bulbs. First, they are easier to change.  Secondly, they are safer. The infrared lamps provide plenty of heat to heat up to 800 sq. ft, but they won’t get so hot that they melt the unit or cause a fire hazard. The manufacturer of Solar Comfort used the quartz technology from 1999-2001, but found that it was much harder to change the quartz bulbs and would prove to be unsafe due to the heat they generated inside the chamber. That’s why Solar Comfort has the safer infrared lamps instead.

Another main difference is the size of the heat exchanger. The Solar Comfort has the largest and highest-quality heat exchanger. That helps it to retain the heat longer when the unit’s thermostat shuts it off. This means better efficiency and lower bills for you.

So let’s suffice it to say that it is safe, efficient, almost maintenance free (can you change a light bulb?) and looks the nicest. There. Now go do your research and let us know if you find anything out there that’s better than a Solar Comfort heater.  Oh, one more thing…the Solar Comfort heaters last for decades. (If you need proof, just check out the testimonials on our website). But they do come with a 3-year warranty just to make you feel better.  We hope this helps in making your decision. Stay safe and warm!

It Sounds Strange, but Inner Tubes Are the Secret to the World’s Most Efficient Heater.

December 10th, 2010

The best technology is the kind you don’t even know about that just makes life better. That’s what’s in the Solar Comfort heater. The Solar Comfort Heating System uses 35% less energy than a conventional electric furnace/baseboard system (as proven in a utility’s field test for a full heating season.)  It can save you up to 50% on heating bills!  What makes the Solar Comfort heater so much more efficient?  Inner tubes.  Not the kind you put in a tire and fill with air, a special patented kind of inner tube called the VenturisAirTM tube.

There are 204 VenturisAirTM tubes in the heating mechanism of a Solar Comfort heater. The temperature of the air passing through the unit is increased by approximately 115°F. The heat’s energy is generated in the first chamber by using four powerful, long-lasting (and replaceable), infrared professional grade lamps.

Next, the warm air moves into the Heat Exchanger. This is where the exclusive VenturisAirTM system provides maximum heat transfer as the air passes around and through the heated tubes. The special dark-black coating enhances the process.  The heat exchanger, weighing nearly 8.5 pounds, holds this heat. When the thermostat tells the lamps to shut off at 190 degrees, the energy absorbed by the heat exchanger is stored and slowly released making the comfort last and last. This ability to store energy for continued use makes the Solar Comfort extremely efficient.  For comfort and energy savings, there’s no beating the Solar Comfort heater.

Round 2-Winning Entry #1 Sleeping Easier

November 19th, 2010
WINNING ENTRY #1 SLEEPING EASIER We bought a Solar Comfort heater last year. We burn wood normally since propane is so high. The heater made us burn much less wood.  Now our chimney is unusable, so we bought another heater. Both heaters keep most of the house warm but we need another one to be totally comfortable. Our cats love the heaters-they “live” on top of them! Now we aren’t worried about the dangers of burning wood-we love our Solar Comfort heaters!  Patricia R., Louisburg, KS.
Congratulations, Patricia and thanks for entering our contest.  We sincerely hope you enjoy your new heater and sleep easier knowing it’s completely safe. We think they’re the cat’s meow too.

Winning Entry #2 Keep Mom Warm

October 6th, 2010

Ready for Winter

My Story: Hi, My name is Larry, I am entering the why I need a solar comfort heater drawing because I really need one. I live with my 85 year old mother and take care of all the house hold problems, but the one problem is the heater. It’s the original heater that has been in the house for 75+ yrs and with an un-insulated house it just can’t seem to keep up in the winter. I have been out of work for a year and a half due to 4 back surgeries and the solar comfort heater would help lower the utility bill if I were to be chosen. I do my best but it’s been rough and we are getting by, that’s all we can do. Thank you for coming up with this give away. Best wishes, Larry

Larry Z - Sugar Creek, MO

We are so excited to be able to give Larry and his mother a Solar Comfort heater. Winning Entry#1 – Cold Upstairs

October 5th, 2010

Sweet Dreams

My Story: Solar Comfort Heaters would be a great benefit to my household; due to the fact that our upstairs rooms get really cold in the winter time. The normal house heater doesn’t do its job of heating the whole house completely. It usually heats up the living room, dining room, and basement areas only. We need something that will also warm up the upstairs area where our rooms are located. Colds are very common in my family during the winter season, because we have chilly nights without heat in our bedrooms. I would really appreciate it if I win a Solar Comfort Heater, not only because it would keep us warm, but also because it’s very economical. Due to the economical crisis that is now occurring, my family is trying to find new ways to save money wisely. If we own a Solar Comfort Heater, we won’t have to use the normal heater during the night time. Regarding the fact that our normal house heater doesn’t do its duties properly, we will only use the Solar Comfort Heater at night to warm up our upstairs bedrooms. Thank you for taking the time to read my essay. Have a great day and God bless you.

Baltazar D – Shawnee, KS

We are thrilled to give Baltazar a free Solar Comfort heater and we know it will keep the whole family cozy all winter.  Thanks for entering our contest, Baltazar, and we hope you all have sweet (and warm) dreams and no more colds. Enjoy those lower gas bills too!  Please let us know how you like the heater.  We’d love to hear back from you!

Warmest Wishes,

SOLAR COMFORT HEATERS ARE THE CAT’S MEOW-TESTIMONIAL

August 17th, 2010

I bought my first Solar Comfort heater in 1996 at a scratch and dent sale to supplement the electric floor heaters in a sunroom at my previous home.  It worked great to keep the cold air off my feet while I was sitting in the adjacent family room.  Furthermore, the Solar Comfort heater kept the very-expensive-to-operate electric floor heaters from running so much, which greatly pleased my pocket book and me.  A side benefit was that my cats also loved it and safely took turns keeping toasty warm on top of it.

We're getting another Solar Comfort heater?!

Oh yeah. High-five!

After my husband and I moved into a larger home with an electric heat pump this past winter, we found ourselves moving the heater around to various locations around the house.  So, we purchased another Solar Comfort heater so that my husband and I (and our two cats) would no longer have to fight over one heater!  We were very pleased with our low winter heating bills and the fact that we didn’t have to worry about the heaters operating anytime day or night, which pleased the cats.

We’re now in the market for a third Solar Comfort heater for our basement.  Since we will be a three-heater family by this winter, I guess you could say that we are convinced that the Solar Comfort heater is a very good product.

Sincerely,

K. Renfro

The History of Solar Comfort Heaters

July 20th, 2010

Way back in the 1970s, a man named John Paul Jones was experimenting with heater designs to heat an old Victorian home in the Springfield, Missouri area.  He captured the idea of combining four 375 watt infrared heating lamps located directly below a specifically designed special metal heat exchanger with 204 hollow, bent and crimped end ferrel tubes. The results were incredibly successful.

The clock then fast forwards to 1985.   Mr. Jones has a chance meeting with Jan Mohr, the owner of the Easy Living Store, in Johnson County, Kansas. Jan’s family had just moved into a custom built home in Overland Park and could not heat their finished 1100 sq. ft. basement. They tried numerous so-called space heaters with absolutely no success. Just by luck, on a cold October day, Jan agreed to try this “wood box” made by John Paul Jones and the result was incredible – the unit heated the entire basement evenly from floor to ceiling (by the way, that exact same unit is still in the basement, and for over 20 years they have been able to leave the upstairs thermostat at 68 degrees instead of the 85 degree setting they were using previous to the use of the Solar Comfort heater).

After these miraculous results, Jan immediately took this product to the air waves with a live talk show format in Kansas City and the heater became an instant winner with the Kansas and Missouri residents.  John Paul Jones passed away in 1999, but his invention lives on and is used by thousands of very satisfied customers who thank him every time they pay their heating bills.

Wow! A Testimonial 28 Years in the Making

The Original Solar Comfort Heater

Greetings from Pennsylvania!  I’m sending you some pictures of the heater that I purchased from a customer.  His aunt and uncle have been using it in Indianapolis, Ind.  They recently moved and now our customer had possession of it.  He said it’s about 28 years old and still has three of the original bulbs in it out of the four.  They only replaced one bulb in all these years.  PS  Heater is still working!!

Sincerely,

Ginny

Heater?…What Heater?

July 7th, 2010
I’ve had the same cleaning lady for 15 years. One day I said something to her about the Solar Comfort heater in my bedroom. I have three throughout my house. She looked at me like she had no idea what I was talking about. I said, “You know, the little heater that sits next to my bed.” Again, a blank stare. I said, “It’s in an oak cabinet, and sits where a night stand would sit.” Suddenly it dawned on her. She said, “Oh, I didn’t know that was a heater. I thought it was a just piece of furniture.” So apparently, the Solar Comfort heaters blend in so well that she’s been dusting around all three for 15 years and never noticed that they were heaters. They certainly don’t look like most other heaters on the market. And I guess because they don’t get hot to the touch like most other heaters and can be tucked next to something like a bed, she just never noticed. Now that’s my kind of heater! I’ve had my Solar Comfort heaters for over 20 years and they’re still going strong. It’s the only heater I’ll ever buy! – Janet W.
